The dynamic plastic buckling of cylindrical shells (rings) subjected to general initial impulsive velocity and subjected to impulsive loading is studied based on the energy criterion. A simple analysis method is given and the formulas of critical mode numbers ncr and critical impulsive velocity νcr are obtained.
