As a liquid jet is formed by a nozzle, a fillet, wetting the outside face of the nozzle, can exist at appropriate jet velocities. The lack of azimuthal symmetry in such a fillet adversely affects the directional stability of the jet. A matrix of experiments was performed in which the dependence of fillet size upon a number of parameters was studied. Analysis of the data shows that a linear relationship exists between the relative fillet size and a nondimensional number composed of a number of relevant parameters.
